Heidelberg Middle East has entered into an agreement to sell and distribute flexographic printing and converting machines from Soma Engineering to countries in GCC, Lebanon and Syria.

A Dubai-based flexible packaging group has said it is looking for acquisitions in Europe and is planning to acquire parts of the Amcor/Alcan business in Europe, according to reports.

Octal Holdings to build facilities in Europe, US

Oman PET resin and sheet supplier Octal Holdings has said it will build sheet production facilities in Western Europe and the US in the next two years.

Octal expects export sales to grow from $400m this year to $1.1bn by 2011. Around two thirds of the firm's exports currently go to Europe and 30% is sold to the US. China has also been targeted as an area for growth and Octal has a sales office in Shanghai.

Producers of plastics for packaging in the Middle East are targeting overseas growth, according to research firm Applied Market Information.

AMI said that domestic demand growth in the region was still strong and that several large investment projects showed that firms were now "investigating the potential" for international business.

Agfa 1st quarter results hit by strong euro

Agfa has reported declines in both its revenue and gross profit in the first quarter of 2018.  The Belgian manufacturer recorded sales of €549m  in the period, down 6.7% on Q1 2017, while its gross profit dropped by 7.5% to €178m. The groups gross profit margin dipped slightly to 32.4%, from 32.7% in Q1 2017.

    The first ever 3D printing conference cum exhibition ‘3D Print UAE’ took place on 17th and 18th August 2015 at Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE which attracted a number of like-minded 3D Printing professionals from over 40 nations.

    3D Print UAE exhibition cum conference is a concept aimed at providing a broad scale platform for the manufacturing sector and consumer world across the ME region. 

    3D Print UAE gave an opportunity for the additive manufacturing experts from across the globe to converge on this regional platform to showcase their solutions, analyze the benefits and discuss the opportunities in the Middle East. It also provided the opportunity for a listen- in to first-hand experience from industry leaders, connect solutions for overcoming challenges in the field, and enhance the brand and  business portfolio.
