Earthinks unveils new gravure inks, coatings range

Natural inks manufacturer Earthinks has launched a range of gravure inks and specialist coatings which it has said will offer improved sustainability and new possibilities to brand owners.

Earthinks said the new products, which have been launched in the past few weeks, provide gravure printers and packaging converters with high-quality, versatile inks made from sustainable and non-polluting resources.

Domino's new digital cold foiling solution

Domino has recently launched its first digital cold foil solution - K600i based on conventional metallic foil to enable the use of security and decorative holographic images within the foil.

International Paper sells Carolina brand

International Paper (IP) said it has finalized the previously announced sale of the Carolina coated bristols brand to MeadWestvaco. IP is a global leader in packaging and paper with manufacturing operations in North America, Europe, Latin America, Russia, Asia and North Africa.

Sappi will raise paper prices from 1st July "unsustainable" margins

One of the biggest paper producers in Europe has announced an 8% price rise on its coated fine and coated mechanical papers, from 1st July. Sappi has said its European business is “unsustainable at current price levels” and is set to raise prices to combat a long period of low prices, tight margins and the high cost of wood pulp.

Sappi Speciality Papers announces the introduction of atelier, a  new concept in folding box board (FBB) for the packaging market.

Smurfit Kappa has built a lifesize, corrugated cardboard igloo in Pitea, Sweden to test the durability and resistance of its Kraftliner in extreme conditions of low temperatures and contact with water.

Measuring 4 metres wide and 2 metres high, the igloo is constructed using a combination of Kraftliner White Top, Recycled High Performance, and Kraftliner papers, Paper Age reported.

Color-Logic metallic special effects are now available for flexible packaging, the company announced.

Fujifilm will be showcasing the ‘power of inkjet’ for label & packaging applications at Packaging Innovations 2015 (NEC Birmingham, 25th – 26th February).

Reproflex3 announced the opening of a new facility at a packaging forum in Dubai, after being invited to guest speak at the event.

Industry gears up for new packaging rules regulations

Packaging businesses are gearing up for next month's introduction of new EU regulations that require changes to the information that is displayed on food packaging.

Flint Group Narrow Web has launched a range of UV LED-curable adhesives under its EkoCure brand.

FFEI adds new features to its Graphium press

FFEI has unveiled a number of enhancements to its Graphium hybrid digital UV narrow-web label press, including a sixth inkjet channel to enable a digital over-white in addition to the existing digital under-white.

The sixth channel, which was always on the product roadmap, will give a configuration of white plus CMYK plus white, enabling converters to print both under-white and over-white.

Heidelberg is taking 100% ownership of Gallus in a deal that will see Gallus owner Ferdinand Rüesch become Heidelberg’s largest single shareholder.
Heidelberg acquired a 30% stake in family-owned Gallus in 1999, and part of the deal included the option to eventually buy the rest of the label and packaging press specialist.

Agfa Graphics exhibited the mid- to high-end wide-format Anapurna M3200i RTR - Agfa Graphics’ enhanced Anapurna i-series at Fespa Digital in Munich.

Durst adds metallic effects to label press

Durst has added metallic effects to its Tau 330 label press and is in the process of doing the same for its Omega II wide-format printer, thanks to a partnership with Color-Logic.

EFI announces Rhapso acquisition, results

EFI has announced the acquisition of print and packaging software developer Group Rhapso, as it posted double-digit jumps in sales and profitability in its first quarter results.

The US-based firm announced that it had acquired French software developer Group Rhapso, whose two main products are the Graphisoft MIS and the PC-Topp scheduling and production control system for the corrugated industry.

Graphisoft is primarily marketed in French-speaking countries, while PC-Topp is sold worldwide

    The first ever 3D printing conference cum exhibition ‘3D Print UAE’ took place on 17th and 18th August 2015 at Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE which attracted a number of like-minded 3D Printing professionals from over 40 nations.

    3D Print UAE exhibition cum conference is a concept aimed at providing a broad scale platform for the manufacturing sector and consumer world across the ME region. 

    3D Print UAE gave an opportunity for the additive manufacturing experts from across the globe to converge on this regional platform to showcase their solutions, analyze the benefits and discuss the opportunities in the Middle East.
