Spectrum Digital Print Solutions has announced the availability of digital print services at The American University in Dubai (AUD).

Emirates Printing Press in Dubai has been awarded the 2009 CIP4 international Print Production Innovation (CIPPI) Award at Print 09 in Chicago.

Ink manufacturer to produce, allot flexo, gravure inks at news premises

Ink manufacturer Torda Inks has moved to a 20,000sqm factory space in Dubai, UAE.

The ink manufacturer will be manufacturing and distributing flexo, gravure inks and paste inks from the site.

Talking to PrintWeek MEA, CEO of Torda Inks, Fredrik Danielsen said: “We’ve seen the economy growing in the Middle East but up until now we’ve had capacity constraints and could not focus on the region as much as we would have liked to. But now we are able to.”

Dubai-based Otra-Conrad Jacobson has begun supplying paper to the newspaper, Times of Oman. 

According to Otra’s sales and marketing director, Khalid Pasha: “The main countries of interest and in which we are authorised to promote various paper, board and pulp grades to are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen.”

Abu Dhabi-based United Printing and Publishing (UPP) have purchased and installed a multi-unit Continent hybrid press line.

The press line – supplied by KBA – became operational in May this year and is said to have cost the company around $27million.

UPP is the third newspaper house in the Middle East to install a KBA hybrid press for coldset and heatset production. The new Continent at UPP is considered to be one of the most advanced newspaper press lines in the region

Publication house says five-colour just right

Tellurian Publication House has installed a five-colour KBA Rapida 75 coater.

This according to KBA's local distributor, Giffin Graphics.

The Dubai-based publication house took delivery of the Rapida 75 shortly after Gulf Print in April this year with installation taking "around two weeks", according to director Elie Zakka.

Al Omeira says Ryobi 754D ‘is adding to company capacity’

Al Omeira Printing has installed a Ryobi 754D.

This is according to the technical manager of the Abu Dhabi-based company, Priyadarshi Singh.

The company – which purchased and installed the machine at the start of July – heaped praise on the 754D, saying that it had “added to the company’s capacity considerably”.

Isra Middle East has installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52-2.

This according to the company’s client service manager, Zafar Amerjee.

The machine, which was purchased in November was installed at the Sharjah-based printing press in June.

The Saudi Arabia-based digital printer, Maher Daftardar Establishment (MMD) has opened its doors in the UAE. This follows its recent investment into a digital printer from Durst, the Rho 700 and a cutter from Zund.
