The 4th Dubai International Print Awards concluded on 27th January, with a gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt, Dubai.A total of 871 entries from Middle East, North Africa and India competed for top honours in 23 categories.

Held under the aegis of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Printing and Publishing Group (PPG) gave away 16 awards in the off-set printing categories and 7 to the digital printing category.

Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd vice chairman, Dubai Chamber said, "We have been associated with the Dubai International Print Award since its inception in 2006 and its expansion this year into Egypt and Levant marks a special milestone for PPG and serves our strategic objectives of supporting the development of business and promoting Dubai as an international business hub."

Ahmad Al Shaikh, chairman of PPG said, "Inspite of 2009 being a challenging year, we were surprised with more number of entries this year. We had 871participants as compared to 781 in the last year. Also, we have received interesting and innovative nominations, which reflects how the industry has progressed in this part of the world. Though 2009 saw the publishing sector decline by 15-20%, this was balanced by an increase in business volumes of the packaging sector."

Established in 2006, the Dubai International Print Awards has expanded its scope to countries likeLebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan and India besides the GCC.

The 5th edition of the awards will be held on 26th January, 2011, Al Shaikh announced.
