Kalima is a non-profit state initiative funded by theAbu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), which translates, publishes and distributes works of classic and contemporary writing from other languages into Arabic.

Each year Kalima translates and publishes more than 100 titles of classic, modern and contemporary writing from around the world with the aim to provide more availability and choice of book titles to Arabic readers.

Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, manager of Kalima said: "Our partnership with UPP stems from the desire to bring to Arabic readers beautiful books in every single way. Established in October 2005, under the aegis of the Government of Abu Dhabi, Kalima is administered by a board of directors chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan.

Barely four years old, UPP has recently started production in its new high-tech facility in Shahama, and has acquired new printing presses worth AED 100 million in the two years.
