Inspired by the Innovation Week, ATLAB is organising Gulf 3D Printing Olympiad, for young people in Dubai.

A trip to UK and Dh10,000 award are being offered to students who could unleash their creativity in designing three-dimensional models.

A technology-based learning solutions firm has invited entries from students to enroll in the region’s first 3D printing competition.

The contest themed “Design your own consumer product” seeks participants to design and 3D print an innovative product, preferably that can help people in their everyday lives.

The competition is open to all students from the UAE aged between 10 and 25; with separate categories for aged 10-12, 13-15, 16-19 year-olds, and university students between 17 and 25.

Schools and universities can enter teams of one or two students and a coach. Winners in each category will be given a 3D printer and a cash prize of Dh10,000, with runner-ups receiving 5,000.

The team that wins the “Best Innovative Project of the Year Award” will also win an all-expenses paid trip to an international 3D-printing show in the UK in September 2016. Entries should be submitted by March 30, 2016, with the awards being presented at the grand finale of the competition in April 2016.
