35,000 fake printer ink cartridges seized by authorities in Riyadh

A total of 35,000 fake printer ink cartridges have been seized by the Ministry of Commerce in Riyadh, KSA, local media reported.

The authorities during the raids seized more than 5,000 packs of fake ink cartridges. Over 4,000 empty ink cartridges were about to be refilled, the paper said, adding that nearly 8,000 labels carrying HP trade marks were also confiscated. More than 25,000 packs, carrying HP and Canon brands, were seized.

Samsung has recently announced that it has opened its first ‘assembly plant in Africa, in Ethiopia’, with the factory established to manufacture up to 70 printers a day, the first models of which will be the ML-2160, SXZ-3405W, ML5015ND and SL-M8320D - a mixture of monochrome and MFP machines.

Turkey puts warning labels

Bottles and cans of alcohol sold in Turkey must soon bear warnings similar to those on cigarette packages, including the phrase "Alcohol is not your friend." Companies have 10 months to comply with the regulations, which were released last month.
The new regulations about the labels result from a law passed in May that restricts the sale and advertising of alcohol.

government printers in Saudi Arabia, Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMBSU),   has purchased a new eight-colour ROLAND 700 HiPrint perfecting press. IMBSU now owns eight Roland presses.

Kuwait based, Al Nazayer Press has invested in Kluge EHF, die cutting, foiling and embossing machine.

The EHF features speeds of up to 3,300 impressions per hour and can accommodate up to 381 x 629mm sheets, with a maximum of up to 40 square inches of die area.

It has patented 'Delayed Dwell' technology which allows the EHF to start on impression sooner, bottom out and remain on impression longer doubling impression time with no loss of production speed.

Lebanese printer El Yaman Group has invested in a slitter-rewinding-inspection machine, the Jupiter 450, from Prati.
