Five Star Graphics has upgraded its press, adding a six-colour Gandinnovations Jeti 5024 to its press.

Managing director of the company, Ahmed Sherif said: “We already have a Jeti 3324 solvent printer but we were looking for more accuracy and speed, which is why we installed the new machine.”

The 5.1m RTR machine – which was installed in the final quarter of last year – has 24 spectra heads and can print up to 600dpi with a speed of up to 160 sqm/hr.

Sherif said the press planned to introduce UV, RTR printing in future because of its high speed and therefore its potential to cut costs.

Five Star has also invested in a 2.5m Seiko eco-solvent printer which has a speed of 100 sqm/hr and has “lowest cost per sqm.”

Talking about recession in Egypt, Sherif said: “The industry is generally slower at the beginning of the year but we hope that it will be back to normal in the second quarter.”

The parent company, which caters to offset and pre-press, was established in 1987 with the graphics division established in 1998.
