Self-adhesive label materials producer UPM Raflatac has launched a new outdoor-resistant film face material, thereby expanding its product offering for industrial chemical labelling. The new Synlite Xtra material is available to the European market.
According to the company, the material can be used for industrial chemical labelling applications that need greater resistance to challenging outdoor conditions.. The UV resistance offered by Synlite Xtra is based on a lightweight and production-efficient PP-based matt film, which is paired with UPM Raflatac’s high-tack RC77 adhesive. The pairing is said to offer good UV resistance and adhesion on polar and non-polar surfaces.RC77 is designed to withstand challenging outdoor environments and ensures that labels display critical information related to container contents and any safety requirements through the life of the container.
UPM Raflatac EMEIA Special Business Oil and Industrial Chemical segment manager Jouni Iiskola said: “We’re very pleased to be able to add this new film to our ever-expanding range of solutions for highly demanding applications.
“Synlite Xtra with RC77 answers our customers’ needs for a durable, reliable, and standards-compliant solution for industrial chemical labelling. In order to ensure that dangerous goods shipped by sea are durably labelled and identified, Synlite Xtra with RC77 complies with the requirements of Section 2 and Section 3 of the BS5609 standard for seawater resistance.”
The company noted that the film also has good printing properties with thermal transfer and conventional printing methods.
