Nilpeter reaches 100 years in business

Danish press manufacturer Nilpeter will celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 1, 2019.

Founded in 1919 by Christian Nielsen and Axel Petersen, Nilpeter started out servicing newspaper printing machines in central Copenhagen. It introduced its first semi-rotary printing press, The Simplex, in 1924, which in various versions remained part of the company’s product range until the 1970s.

MGI unveils AlphaJet in B1 configuration

MGI Digital Technology has launched the new B1 version of its AlphaJet industrial print system and it has already won an award for innovation.

The machine, described as a 'print factory', was unveiled at the Paris All4Pack expo last month in a configuration comprising six combined B1 inkjet and embellishment functions: white UV pigment ink, 2D/3D UV clear varnish ink, aqueous CMYK printing ink, inline substrate sheet priming, LED, IR and UV curing, and variable foil embossing.

Manroland Goss acquires GWS Printing Systems

Manroland Goss Web Systems (MGWS) has acquired Dutch used web offset equipment specialist GWS Printing Systems and service specialist Dovak Industrial Services.
MGWS said the deal, which was completed on 20 December, is “the next important step in the development of its strategy to be the most advanced solution provider to the web offset printing industry”.

Heidelberg targets growth in online consumables store

Heidelberg is set to enter the new year with growth on the agenda as it pushes for an expansion in the proportion of sales brought in by its consumables eShop portal.

Screen has launched a new series of eight-page thermal CTP systems.
Commercially available with immediate effect, the PlateRite 8600NII series platesetters are equipped with high-output fibre laser diode exposure heads, which Screen said enable productivity of up to 32 plates per hour as well as energy savings and “superior cost performance”.
