Abu Dhabi -based commercial printer, Future Printing Press has decided to speed up their binding line by investing in a series of post press equipment. The company has invested in a Heidelberg Polar 115X and a perfect binding line EuroBind 1300.

Talking to PrintWeek MEA, owner of the company, Fakhri Al Jabaree said: “We went for this specific brand looking at automation and availability of spare parts. The business in Abu Dhabi is also growing and we felt that this was the right time to go for these machines.”

Al Jabaree added: “We decided to go for the Polar machine since it has about 85% market share and comes in one piece frame for more stability and accuracy. Its back gauge has no errors and can run up to 10 to 15 years without any problems. The new perfect binder is very solid and highly automated. We can adjust the clamps without manual intervention.”

The company has also signed a contract for a Fidia folding and gluing machine which will be delivered in May. They have also invested in other post press equipment like stitching and spot UV machines.

The printer has also gone for a four-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster SM74 with a Prinect press centre. “We have invested in this B2 press because we have many jobs like the printing of school books as well as short run” he added.

The total investment is about $3.5 million which includes building and machinery.

Talking about the trend in the Abu Dhabi market, Al Jabaree added: “Customers are now looking for high quality prints, with a low price and for short delivery time. Printers have to go for highly automated machines or otherwise they will be out of the market.”

The press was established in 2000 and employs about 100 people.
It caters predominantly to the Abu Dhabi market.
