Sharjah, UAE based, Recorder Printing Press has gone for PickWel 12 station signature gathering machine from Welbound Worldwide.

Talking to PrintWeek MEA, managing directory of the company, Mathews George said: "We have gone for this machine because of our increased production capacity."

Company has also gone for a ten-colour sheetfed press from Heidelberg, SM 102.

"We have regular contracts and we export to GCC and some of the European countries as well. So because of increased orders and printing capacity we were in need of this machine to fulfil our daily requirement.

"We arrived to this particular machine because of its competitive price and productivity. We have seen this machine is the market and had positive feedback," he said.

Pickwel is a modular (offline) signature gatherer with suction - gripper type of separation and pulling of forms from the feed stations. Machine also has a error detection protocols with optical sensing for missing signature detection and electro mechanical calliper for multiple signature detection. The machine can take maximum 430 x 320 mm of signature dimensions with maximum pile height of 250 mm.

"We operate at speed of 3,500 copies per hour. Our specialities include commercial printing like magazines, books and packaging printing like boxes for catering, tissue or perfume packaging," George said.

Recorder Printing Press is 20 years old company with 160 employees with production plats in Sharjah and Dubai.
