Manufacturer of stitching machines, Meccanotecnica has launched a new machine named asterEVO, that can handle signatures from 120 x 75 mm to 420 x 320 mm at a speed of 180 cycles/min.

According to information received from the company, its sewing saddle is 100% controlled by a camshaft running in sealed oil-filled compartment guarantees exceptionally long cam life time and no need for maintenance.

Optionally the asterEVO can be equipped with the GigaLynx camera system for quality control ensuring the correct gathering sequence of the book, and with the continuous staggered stitch to reduce the thread built up along the book spine by alternating the thread position useful when sewing thick books printed on thin paper.

Company officials said that the stitcher has 15" Siemens colour touch screen monitor to control all functions which allows for quick and easy programming without having to stop the machine, allowing storing of different sewing programs that can be recalled during production, display of production data, machine speed and alarm messages. The user interface is fully graphic and the wheel speed automatically adjusts to the running speed of the machine.
