Durst adds metallic effects to label press

Durst has added metallic effects to its Tau 330 label press and is in the process of doing the same for its Omega II wide-format printer, thanks to a partnership with Color-Logic.
This means users of Durst's Tau 330 will now be able to print metallic effects with Durst's white ink plus CMYK on a foil substrate using Color-Logic's process metallic colour system.

EFI announces Rhapso acquisition, results

EFI has announced the acquisition of print and packaging software developer Group Rhapso, as it posted double-digit jumps in sales and profitability in its first quarter results.

The US-based firm announced that it had acquired French software developer Group Rhapso, whose two main products are the Graphisoft MIS and the PC-Topp scheduling and production control system for the corrugated industry.

Graphisoft is primarily marketed in French-speaking countries, while PC-Topp is sold worldwide

Heidelberg has announced that it will start offering the new Speedmaster CD 102 from April this year. Equipped with the Preset Plus Delivery and a comprehensive package of automation components, it boosts productivity by around ten percent on the previous series, says Heidelberg. 

The new Speedmaster CD 102 is aimed at customers that produce traditional advertising materials, packaging or labels.

Post-press manufacturer Kolbus is hoping to extend its reach into the packaging sector with the development of a new board scoring machine, the NM100.
The NM100 cuts grooves into board blanks that can subsequently be folded into high-end boxes. I-Sub digital has launched what it claims is a unique new foiling system that combines a Mimaki UJF and a heated applicator.
Aimed at high-end packaging manufacturers, I-Sub Digital director Andy Spreag said the system could produce colour-accurate mock-ups, one-offs or short runs in around five minutes, saving prototyping and decision-making time for brand owners. Gidue launches new entry-level label press

Italian flexo press manufacturer Gidue has officially launched its MX entry-level label printing press.

The MX, which was previewed at an open house at the company's factory in Florence, Italy during Drupa, is a cut-down version of Gidue's proven S-Combat series.

In addition to featuring the full belt drive system from the S-Combat, the eight-colour MX uses Gidue's Flower flexo print head; it has a 370mm web width.
