German paper mill Feldmuehle Uetersen, which has filed for insolvency, launched a new label paper named EmbaSet. It is a high-gloss non-wet strength paper for standard labels in weights of 80 and 90gsm.

Sappi declares price hike

Sappi Europe has announced price increases of 6% for all uncoated grades and 4% for all coated grades, effective 01 April 2018.
The price hikes will apply to all European and overseas markets.
Sappi said the price increases are due to increasing costs for pulp and other raw materials, and that “the measure is necessary to mitigate continuing margin erosion.”
Practical implementation discussions by Sappi’s sales team with individual customers are going on.

Papierfabrik Scheufelen, a producer of coated woodfree fine papers and packaging board based in Lenningen, Germany, has initiated insolvency proceedings at the local court of Esslingen.

Sun Chemical and Flint Group have declared an increase in prices of various inks and coatings, effective from 1st of  March 2018.
Flint Group’s CPS Inks division will implement a global price increase of up to 9% on offset and publication gravure inks, coatings and pressroom consumables while Sun Chemical will increase prices on all offset inks and coatings for its customers across all regions.

Specialty chemical producer Buckman has announced a global price adjustment on select pulp and paper product lines effective 01 March, 2018, or as contracts allow.
The price increase will be 10 to 25 percent, dependent on geographic location and products and services sold. In some areas increases may be higher where exchange-rate-based adjustments are necessary, Buckman said.

BASF SE to increase prices for wet-end paper chemicals

BASF SE said that it will increase prices for wet-end paper chemicals in Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA) by 4 to 12 percent.
