Sun Chemical has introduced a new UV offset ink for luxury folding carton applications. The new ink system, SunCure Aspire UV, has been developed to make graphics look vibrant on high-end luxury folding cartons and offer the longer-term shelf appeal for brand owners.
In addition to exhibiting immense colour transparency, the new ink system will help in the creation of vivid color graphic effects on metalized, lenticular and holographic board stocks which are frequently used for pharmaceutical, perfume, liquor, cosmetic and POP applications.
Sun Chemical said that the SunCure Aspire UV ink can work well with its SunInspire special effects coatings to help make cartons shelf appeal.
SunCure Aspire UV inks offer better transfer, a wide water window, a high degree of lithographic stability, very high pigment strength to ensure mileage on press, and good lightfastness, resulting in consistency of shelf appeal over time.
Additional the new UV ink system makes no use of any of the “exclusion-type photoinitiators” which are potential concerns to many brand owners and regulatory bodies, the firm noted.
SunCure Aspire UV inks, which meet ISO color requirements for GRACoL G7 applications, offer good adhesion properties to many non-porous substrates. It is made available in a complete line of high strength blending colors for all spot color needs.
Apart from this, Sun Chemical and its parent company, DIC Corporation, have acquired C.T.LAY S.R.L.
“The strategic acquisition of C.T.LAY will enable Sun Chemical to better serve its customers around the world,” said Mehran Yazdani, president, Sun Chemical Advanced Materials. “The broad range of technologies and services provided by C.T.LAY and 4PLATE will further strengthen Sun Chemical’s portfolio of magnetic tapes, screen and security inks, and electronic materials for plastic and security ID cards.”
