New Xerox inkjets find buyers at exhibition

Xerox has revealed the first buyers of its Drupa-launched inkjet presses.

Xerox chairman and chief executive Ursula Burns said: “High-quality colour, especially inkjet, is growing. The technology has generated new ways of collaborating and new ways of working. People want to create things that are unique and personal and they are willing to pay a premium for those things if we can show them the value.”

Fujifilm, Epac create 5D printing for books

Fujifilm has partnered with US-based Epac Technologies to create ‘5D printing’, an automated system for the print industry targeted particularly at high-quality book manufacturing. At Drupa the manufacturer is presenting its plans to bring the Samba heads from its Jet Press 720S to its Jet Press 540W roll-to-roll digital machine. This would allow the 540W to print on offset papers to create an automated book production system.

HP has sealed a huge Japanese deal for a new books-on-demand factory at Drupa, and has also announced a collaboration with packaging giant Smurfit Kappa for its upcoming C500 corrugated solution.

Air Motion Systems has announced the release of its first ever UV LED “Look Book,” at drupa 2016. The “Look Book” showcases the capabilities of sheetfed litho cured with UV LED. Konita shows one plate

A new chemistry-free plate that works in both thermal and conventional UV platesetters was shown at Drupa.

Chinese manufacturer Konita  used the show as the launchpad for its NP non-process plate. Their thermal plates are cost-effective where a product with high productivity that can extend the laser life of image-setter.

KBA claims Rapida 145 biggest press at show

KBA claims its six-colour Rapida 145 with coater and new double delivery is the biggest press running at drupa. It has also revealed more details of its joint venture with Xerox for folding cartons.

German manufacturer Rowe is presenting a prototype from its new ColorPress series of wide-format printers.

The toner-based 36in machine can print posters in high quality, even when using plain paper, and all prints are UV resistant, water resistant and completely dry, making the device suitable for inline folding. Canon shows its new Arizona 2200 flatbeds for first time

Canon has further extended its Arizona flatbed range by debuting two printers in its newly launched 2200 series at Drupa.

The Océ Arizona 2260 and 2280 Arizona flatbeds will begin shipping after the show.

The Italian firm Comiflex SRL has shaken hands with India’s largest global flexible packaging solution company Uflex Limited confirming its intent to manufacture Gearless C.I. Durst  has unveiled its new development for corrugated packaging and display printing, which features single- and multi-pass technologies.

Komori sells first IS29 inkjet

At Drupa, Komori has sold its first B2 inkjet Impremia IS29 to India, to Ludhiana-based digital specialist Dulari Digital.

   Komori said it had sold another nine offset presses in the first six days of Drupa to India, including six Enthrones.

    The “litho quality” IS29 is Komori’s version of the Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 – the jointly developed UV digital press that is capable of of 3,000sph simplex and 1,500sph duplex. It can print at a resolution of 1,200dpi on a maximum sheet size
