Pankaj Patel, CEO of Printech Middle East talks about their GPP participation

As a manufacturer/distributor how do you contribute to the sustainability initiatives?
As a distributor, our focus is to bring greener technology in the market place for example in label printing, UV flexo machines, we are recommending to use UV LED lamps rather than standard UV lamps, thus reducing the power consumption by 70% and more. Use of eco-friendly solvents makes solvent based flexo better for environment than Gravure where ethyl acetate is still main solvent. We have even launched water-based inks which are used to print on plastic films.

Digital industry already took the world in storm. Did you feel the tremor in the industry in terms of volumes?
In true  industrial packaging environment  like labels, flexible packaging and corrugated carton industry, digital printing has not made very strong impact  still. But the digital speeds and cost of ownership are getting better and better.

One of the permanent challenges is the rising cost of the raw materials for the suppliers/printers. In which way, Printech ME is supporting them?
Printech teams study the end product specification as well as processes at customers then in consultation with principal companies, offer a solution which may have better value proposition for the customer/ printer.

What is the single biggest way to change the packaging sector in the coming years?
Health and safety in the food industry will drive the change.

What is your opinion about label printing industry? Do you think that the distributors/dealers need to have some education sessions?
Yes, we need to constantly innovate, train ourselves and our customers to take on the challenges of the future.
