Leading Italian manufacturers have announced that they will participate at Paper Middle East 2010, to be held during September 18 -20, 2010 under the umbrella of Aspin agency and Frosinone Chamber of Commerce.

Under Aspin pavilion will be: Indexa Italia 2 Srl displaying advanced maintenance systems and technology development, along with Binet Sul Liri Engineered Fabrics SpA exhibiting display wet felts and dryer screens at high performances for papermaking.

KBA bags order for 2 Compacta 217 presses

Saudi Arabia's King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur'an has placed one of the biggest-ever commercial web press contracts in the Middle East with KBA.

The installation will comprise two 16pp KBA Compacta 217 press lines with a total of four reel-stands, twelve double printing units, four dryers and two folders and will be delivered in autumn.

The deal was finalised during a visit by the Saudi delegation to Ipex.

KSA's agency installs new line for ID cards

Government Printing Press Agency (GPPA) in Saudi Arabia has taken a delivery of two Persolines from Atlantic Zeiser.

The system solutions are used to produce the Iqama Card and Iqama Family Card, providing individual personalisation coupled with inexpensive and secure digital Drop on Demand (DoD) variable data printing.

Apex buys Goss press for inhouse printing

Oman based Apex Press and Publishing have purchased a Goss Community SSC press to start in-house printing of newspapers, magazines and directories.

Apex has been operating in the Sultanate of Oman since 1980 and has been publishing a range of titles including the Muscat Daily, The Week, Alisbou'a, Business Today, Oman Today, Usrat Al Youm and a local business directory using contract printers.

Adobe Middle East has launched a direct mail campaign with self-audit forms to educate companies about the benefits of using licenced products.

The company stressed that one of the main benefits of using legal software is avoiding the hidden dangers of using pirated or cracked software. Most cracked versions of Adobes products contain Trojans and viruses that often trick a users machine into sending out spam messages to thousands of computers.

Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University has taken ownership of a four-colour Roland 50.

New distribution deal for service and sales

Saudi-Arabia’s Hoshan Company Ltd and Kodak have signed a distribution deal allowing Hoshan to offer sales and service support for several Kodak products.

These include unified workflow solutions, pre-press and electrophotographic printing solutions.

Hoshan’s printing division will target professional print houses, corporate organisations, in-house printing departments, universities, utilities companies, banks, copy centres and stamp makers.

Yemeni printer orders second Goss SSC press

Yemeni government-owned 14th October Foundation for Journalism, Printing and Publishing has ordered a Goss Community SSC single-width press.  It will print the daily newspaper 14th October.

Project manager at 14th October, Ahmed Moataz said: “We operate a Goss Community press and are confident in its print quality so we had no hesitation in ordering a second press.”

The Saudi-Arabia based commercial printer, Abaker Printing, has installed  a Heidelberg XL 75-7LF.
According to Heidelberg, it is the first such installation in the Gulf.
