Fespa Global Print Expo will return to Munich in 2021 following next year’s Spanish sojourn. Set to take over Messe Munich from 18-21 May 2021, the exhibition will be returning to the Bavarian capital only two years after this year’s edition. Fespa 2020 is set to take place in Madrid from 24-27 March, relocated from Germany and brought forward in the calendar to avoid a clash with Drupa, which will take place in June next year.

Tradeprint’s departing business development manager and former owner of Sense Creative, Tim Thompson, has launched a new digital flipbook production service called PrintingFlip for print companies. PrintingFlip is an online subscription service printers can use to convert print-ready PDFs into flipbooks that can be shared with clients. The software systems used at Tradeprint during his time there inspired the germ of his new venture. “I’m looking to help printers and small businesses generate more leads and remove a little stress from their lives. If you are the printer on the block, doing helpful things like sharing flipbooks with each order will win the work over those companies who tread the same old tried-and-tested path of discounting and slashing prices. Available on two separate websites to worldwide signups at a subscription rate of £7.99/month, PrintingFlip is one of two new services launched by Thompson as he transitions out of Tradeprint.”

Landa chief executive Yishai Amir said the firm will install its first W10 flexible packaging press early next year, and has revealed ambitions to achieve a rapid ramp-up in installations over the coming three years. Amir said that a continental flexible packaging specialist would be the first customer for the 1m-wide, 100m/min W10, which would mean Landa will have all three of its current press platforms operating in the field by Drupa. Landa currently has four installations with a further four announced. “More will be announced soon, to be installed in the next 12 months,” Amir said, adding,“Behind the scenes there are lots of activities going on to make sure customers can grow and ramp up production.”

KBA invited print professionals from world over to an open house spotlighting the potential for digital transformation and data-driven services in packaging printing under the motto “KBA 4.0 – Packaging Printing & Connected Services.” For the first time, it was possible to show the complete process chain for packaging production in a live demonstration – from creation of the jobs in the MIS, via printing and die-cutting through to completion of the folding cartons. KBA has now positioned itself as a one-stop partner for all the needs of this growth market.
