Other: Coated paper seminar attracts 40 printers
Youssef Allam's Print Media Academy in Cairo hosted "Nevia Day - the Coated Paper" seminar on 14th March. About 40 print professionals from Cairo and Alexandria attended the seminar on coated paper and the quality of printing.
The seminar was sponsored by art paper mill, Gold East Paper (GEP) and distributors of paper products, Gold Hua Sheng Paper.
Ming Zhang, director of research & development at GEP was lead speaker and assisted by Dr. George Nubar, professor at Helwan University.
"Brightness, drying speed and other factors affect dimensional stability, and hence printing," Zhang explained to the participants.
"Choice of paper may cause static electricity. When the coating layer is high and base paper fiber is low, the binding {of paper and coating} would be high which would result in high static electricity."
"Printers know how to choose the right paper to add value to their operation. Printing is about finding the balance of all factors. For example, you need to find out the balance between coating and fiber, ink and fountain solution," said Mahmoud Kazem, head of Youssef Allam Paper.
