Paper manufacturer Nippon Paper Industries has announced that it will start to sell coated paper U-ltima Gloss 80 (Kirameki) in the coated paper U-ltimax series.
According to Nippon, U-ltima Gloss 80 (Kirameki) will make it possible to achieve sharp printed images on the print side using offset printing, something that has hitherto been possible only with gravure printing.
The gloss level (degree of light reflection from paper) of U-ltima Gloss 80 (Kirameki) is 80%, almost as high as the gloss level of cast coated paper. The luster of the paper itself makes printed materials look like photo prints and creates highlights.
U-ltima Gloss 80 (Kirameki) can be used for publications, including magazines, mooks, and photo books, along with a range of other purposes.
The Nippon Paper Group consists of approximately 180 affiliates and related companies, headed by Japan based, Nippon Paper Industries.
In early August this year, Nippon announced that they will be selling coated one- sided white duplex board Belight Card.
Nippon announced that Belight Card is 7% to 10% lighter than their existing coated one side white duplex board and has been developed using Nippon’s low-density technology. The product lineup consists of four items having different base weights.
Belight Card can be used for packages for food, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, CD/DVDs, among other goods. There are a variety of uses other than packaging. Since Belight Card is used for packages for foods, it does not use any fluorescent dyes.
Nippon Paper industries was founded in 1949 and currently employs over 5000 people. Through technologies that make use of forest products, Nippon Paper is creating a number of businesses that include the development of biomass electric power generation and bio fuels, and the commercialization of cellulose nanofiber.
