Other: EFI unveils Jetrion for digital labels at expo

EFI has launched the Jetrion 4900, a UV inkjet digital label press with inline laser finishing unit from SEI Laser Converting, at Labelexpo.

The five-colour (CMYK plus white) press, which is driven by a Fiery XF RIP and uses EFI's high-quality UV inkjet inks, features a robust flexo-style web with an industrial grade transport.

An inline corona station in front of the print unit ensures ink adhesion on filmic substrates, providing greater substrate compatibility, while the inline laser-finishing unit from SEI enables a full range of finishing options.

The SEI unit uses high-powered dual lasers to provide die cutting, while a configurable slitting station, with up to nine blades, provides inline slitting and backscoring on a wide range of substrates including paper, foil and film.

A festoon between the finishing station and the rewinder acts as a buffer to minimise substrate waste between jobs via what EFI described as a "unique reverse function".

EFI said that the press was designed with a heavy duty cycle in mind and it is aimed at short-run digital label jobs, where it can boost profitability by reducing set-up time, substrate waste and inventory requirements associated with label finishing, such as plates and dies.

The EFI Jetrion 4900 costs from €625,000 ($836,000).
