What does the machine do?

It is a five colour offset press Komori Lithrone LS 540 HC-1 with a varnish coater and extended delivery. It has a maximum sheet size of 720 x 1030mm.

Why did you choose this particular machine?

We have seen Komori machines in the market. We discussed with manufacturer and also with other customers about the machine. From the last Ipex show,we gathered some important information about the machine. Overall we received good review about this particular machine.

Did you look at other similar machines? And which ones?

We looked at similar machines from German manufacturers as well.

Which features do you particularly like?

This is a press with full options. We can print on papers ranging from 60 to 230 gsm without any problem. Also the quality of print is like German machines with less price tag. The press has AMR � (Automatic Make Ready) in which we can do plate register, cylinder cocking, fan-out register, paper thickness preset by remote control.

Is there anything you dislike or wish it had?

No.

How fast is it?

It can print at speed of up to 16,000 sheets per hour.

How reliable is it?

It has been reliable till date with support from the distributor of machine.

What is the quality like and what kind of response have you had from your clients?

Our clients are happy with the quality of the printed sheets and we have no complaints. The press has a KHS � AI (Komori KHS Advanced Interface) which uses job data from MIS liked station to the CTP workflow. Thus plates output by a CTP system and preset data calculated from CIP4/PPF data, enables one-step register adjustment and color matching. Also the pre-inking condition is automatically adjusted for the image to be printed.

How easy is it to use?

It is very easy to use. We did not require very senior or highly skilled operators.

How much time or money has it saved?

We feel that, we could save atleast 5% mainly because of price of machine. This has enabled us to go down with the customers pricing.

Were there any difficulties experienced during the installation or after?

No.

Has it won you any new work?

Not really, as we are in the same line of printing business as before.

Under what circumstances would you buy another?

We want to improve our production capacity in future. So if we feel the market potential is increased, we may go for another one.

What about the pre- and after-sale service?

It is excellent and we had no issues.

Who do you think it is suitable for?

Commercial printers.
