Other: Al Kheraiji invests in UV inkjet spot coater for personalisation
Riyadh based printing press, Al-Kheraiji Factory has gone for MGI's JetVarnish, a digital inkjet spot UV coater.
Talking to PrintWeek MEA, general manager, Majed Ben Abdullah Al-Yoysof said: "This is the first of its kind machine in Saudi Arabia. We went for this particular machine because of its economical way to do this process and less makeready time."
"The cost of the production is about 15 to 25% less than conventional process when you have about 25% coverage. You do not need any mesh preparation so the makeready time is minimal," he said.
The company has invested about 200,000 Euros with this machine and expects to have return of investment within one year.
The machine uses piezo heads drop on demand inkjet technology. The maximum size it can take is 520 x 1050 mm. The coater can print on paper, plastic, PVC and other coated materials.
"The printer does not emit any ozone and is having clean technology. We can use this machine for personalisation applications as well. The printer can be used for packaging applications with black ink printing," he said.
The Al-Kheraiji Factory will be using the machine for applications like label bags, magazines, book covers using the substrates like paper and canvas.
Some of the other features of the machine are, it can print with an average measure of 93 gloss units and has ability to do three different finishes in one pass (satin, gloss and super gloss), the JETvarnish can also do vignettes and gradations.
